Name: Gwynevere ‘Gwyn’ Hawker
Age: 22
Gender: Female
Compendium and Summon: Her son’s unused baby book and a metal bat.
App stash: sta.sh/01sp3vdax6yp

Background: Life didn’t wait long to screw Gwyn over. As a child residing in a large orphanage, she was often overlooked. There was always another child drawing the attention of the nuns or possible parents away from her, cuter ones, ones with more needs. It didn’t matter what the reason was, just that there was always someone else. Gwyn eventually learned to enjoy the neglect, not being noticed meant you could get away with quite a lot. She enjoyed taking things that wouldn’t be missed and hiding them in her pillow case; and, the act soon became a game to her. How many paper clips and crayons could she take before someone noticed? The answer was quite a few. But crayons and paper clips didn’t get you friends or a loving family.

By 18 she was sent away from the orphanage as all reject children were. No instructions, no help, just a backpack full of what few belongings she had and a pat on the back. So Gwyn did what she knew how to do, she stole. An apple here, a wallet there, whatever it took to get through the day she would do it. Eventually just stealing to get by wasn’t working, so she began to sell her body. That worked for a time. Her clients usually paid alright, and they usually left their wallets unguarded. Once Gwyn got past the self loathing of what she had been reduced to, it wasn’t too terrible of a gig. She could eat, most nights she had somewhere to sleep, and was able to shower regularly. One night she wasn’t careful enough, and a few weeks later she found out she was pregnant.

Gwyn was horrified, she could barely support herself, how was she going to support a child? It wasn’t like she knew who the father was, there was no way she could do this on her own! A week later she made an appointment to get an abortion, and despite knowing it was probably the best course of action, she couldn’t go through with it. She knew what she was condemning the child to as she walked out of the clinic, but damn if she wouldn’t try to change that. Gwyn spent all of what she had saved on a run down apartment in a terrible part of the city. It leaked, it wasn’t air conditioned, someone died there, but she swore she’d make it a home. She got a job at a run down bar, doing everything from washing dishes to bartending just to make ends meet.

Every paycheck went towards her unborn child, even if she suffered they would have what they needed. The day her water broke she walked through the rain to the hospital, it wasn’t like she had the funds to pay for an ambulance. 11 painful hours passed until her baby entered the world. The nurse told her it was a boy, and as she held him in her arms she made a vow. She was going to be better, she was going to be someone he could look up to and rely on. Almost immediately after this, Gwyn passed out from exhaustion. That was when she heard the voice, the offer it presented. Labor must have taken it's toll on her, it had to be a stress induced hallucination. Greater good, cleanse the impure, leave everything behind? Yeah, sure random voice, she'd do just that.

Personality: Gwyn is the definition of self reliant, she will never ask for help and always insist on doing everything for herself. Finding herself unable to perform a task on her own leaves her in a state of frustration. While preferring to remain quiet, when asked about her opinion she will not pull punches and tell you exactly what she thinks. She does not have a good grasp on how to properly deal with emotions, either shoving them aside of allowing the negative ones to consume her completely if they are too intense to be ignored. Many would describe her as aloof and not very friendly. If you are able to get past this incredibly tough exterior, you find that Gwyn will do anything for those she loves, going as far as to put their needs above hers.

Fighting Style: Gwyn does not, by any means, fight fair. When in engaged in a fight her mindset is to end it as quickly as possible, using anything from tricks to cheap shots to earn her victory. As a close range fighter, Gwyn utilizes her metal bat in some pretty gruesome ways to ensure she doesn’t have to fight the same person twice, anything from blows to the head and shots to the knee caps are not above her. While not ideal, the bat can be thrown a small distance, though more force is required to make it an effective mode of combat. The bat can also be used to block some close range attacks.

Updates: TBA

Roleplay Sample: Why did nobody mention it would take her five hours just to set up a crib? Most likely because if anyone had informed her, Gwyn would have opted for a really sturdy cardboard box. With a sigh she sat down on the floor of her apartment and admired her work. It wasn’t anything fancy, but it would do.
“Well baby,” she said aloud, “You have a bed now. That’s one up on me.”
To be honest, she wasn’t complaining. The futon wasn’t too terrible, and she had finally gotten the weird stains out of it. Things were looking up. Gwyn slowly got to her feet, wobbling slightly as she struggled to rise to a standing position. Maybe sitting on the floor wasn’t the best idea, what with being pregnant and all. Yeah, not a smart move. Despite being exhausted from building the crib, she had agreed to pick up another colleague’s shift tonight. Would they have done the same for her? Probably not, but money was money.
Grabbing her dingy handbag off the counter, Gwyn left the apartment and locked the door behind her. Not that a locked door would really deter anyone in this neighborhood, but the practice was more for her sake than anyone else’s. After careful consideration, she decided not to risk her life with the questionably up to code elevator, and took the stairs instead.
